Tallahassee Realtor Launches Financial Readiness Workshop to Help Future Homebuyers Prepare Before They Buy

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - For many future home buyers, the journey to homeownership begins with reviewing listings or applying for a mortage. Tallahassee Realtor Erica Lyles wants buyers to start somewhere different: with their finances.

On September 26, Lyles will host Cornerstone To Financial Freedom, a financial-readiness workshop designed to help future homeowners understand where they stand financially, what homeownership could realistically look like for them, and what steps they may need to take before purchasing a home.

"I don't want someone to simply qualify to buy a house. I want them financially prepared to stay a homeowner after closing," Lyles said

The workshop brings real-estate, financial and mortgage professionals together to help attendees better understand the financial side of homeownership and create a realistic path forward.

Attendees will explore:  

• Budgeting that actually works – Understanding how homeownership fits into your real-life expenses and financial goals.
• Credit & financial readiness – Understanding how credit can affect buying power and identifying areas that may need attention.
• Understanding your buying power – Looking beyond the maximum approval amount and considering what payment may actually feel comfortable.
• Creating a realistic financial game plan – Identifying practical next steps based on where you are today.
• Preparing financially for life after closing – Because getting the keys isn't the finish line.

Cornerstone is designed for more than people who are ready to purchase immediately. Someone who discovers that they need six months - or even a year to prepare financially can leave with something equally valuable: clarity and a plan

And as a special bonus, eligible participants may receive up to $1,000 toward closing costs when purchasing with Lyles and participating lender.

"Homeownship is the goal, but financial freedom is the bigger picture", Lyles said
